A contingent of faithful Christians have long believed that Jesus and his early Jewish followers held that the Father alone is the one true God. They believed that the spirit of God is the spirit of the Father himself. Those same Christians have loved and served Jesus – not as being God – but as God’s Messiah.
Jesus was/is the unique human son of God. By a miracle of the spirit of God, he was born of a virgin. Because of that, God is literally this man’s Father, and this man is literally God’s only begotten human son (Luke 1:35). Seated at the right hand of God, Jesus is now our mediator with God.
Blessed are those who experience God by his spirit. The spirit of God is not a separate individual from the Father. It is the Father extending himself to us by his mighty power. The Father is all powerful and everywhere present. What is done by the spirit of God has been done by the Father.
“Focus on John 1” brings together some of the best of writings and videos about the amazing but controversial prologue of the gospel of John. We invite our viewers to look anew with us at John 1 and reconsider this wonderful passage about God’s powerful creative word by which he made the world.
The idea of more than one individual being God Almighty is not the teaching of Jesus and the original Christians. Under the later multiple “Persons” God approach, the glory that should be given to “one” as God has now been divided between three – our faith has been confused and thwarted.
On the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:22, Peter declared – not that Jesus was the God of the Jews come down to them – but rather that he was “Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know.”
Jesus said “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” Enjoy videos, articles and music from 21st Century Reformation contributors for encouragement to follow Jesus for a victorious Christian Life.
