Joel Hemphill tells his audience at a conference in Georgia that the most important thing that Christians today could do is to learn to listen to the words of Jesus. That is especially the case regarding his words about God. Hemphill quotes the teachings of some popular Christian evangelists who diminish or even disregard the words of Christ. Joel then exhorts us to love and honor Jesus’ words including his declaration that his Father is the only true God and that he, Jesus, is not God, but the Christ (John 17:3).
