If you enjoyed 21st Century’s commentary on Paul’s first letter to Timothy, you will love the one on Second Timothy. Likely written in the late 60s CE, this letter is especially poignant as possibly Paul’s final writing before his death. The apostle tells Timothy, “As for me the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7).
No study of Paul’s writings, or of the New Testament as a whole, is complete without an understanding and appreciation for Second Timothy. Paul’s words are as meaningful and beneficial to Christians today as they were to the people of the first century when he wrote them. And what better way is there to take in this great writing than by following along with two of our favorite Bible commentators, Sir Anthony Buzzard and J. Dan Gill!
