  The Anointed Jesus

Mark Jones

Pastor Steve Katsaras of Melbourne, Australia talks to us about Jesus and who he is.  Pastor Steve tells us that he is indeed the Christ, the Messiah – the son of God. (Ref. Matt. 16:16).

Pastor Mark Jones of Tennessee tells us that the words “Christ” / “Messiah” have a meaning. They refer to one who has been anointed.  Pastor Mark then reviews the anointing of the kings in Israel and goes on to tell us that God’s greatest anointed is the one we call “The Christ – The Messiah.” Jesus has been anointed with holy spirit by God himself. (Ref. Luke 4:18; Acts 2:36; Acts 10:38-48).

A Timeline: The Hellenization of Christianity

Excerpt from Glory to God in the Highest

Author Joel Hemphill brings us a helpful study resource regarding how Christianity unfortunately came to be intermingled with Greek philosophy.  Beginning with Heraclitus, Joel follows the development of the Greek notion of “logos” which proved to be something very different from the Hebrew concept of the “word” of God and different from the understanding of the first Christians regarding the “word.” Joel takes the matter all the way through to the notable statements of Pope Benedict (Sept. 12, 2006) in which he decries the recent “dehellenization of Christianity which is now in progress.”

Excerpts from Jesus Was Not a Trinitarian

Is the Doctrine of the Trinity in the

Old Testament?

Anthony Buzzard brings us a short article which addresses the question, “Is the Doctrine of the Trinity in the Old Testament?” Anthony tells us that the Old Testament is strictly monotheistic and that the best of scholarship recognizes that fact.

Is the Doctrine of the Trinity in the

New Testament?

In the sequel to the above article, Anthony Buzzard now asks the question, “Is the Doctrine of the Trinity in the New Testament?” Here, Anthony brings us a variety of sources which assure us that the New Testament is no less strictly monotheistic than is the Old Testament.

Does Calling Jesus “Immanuel” Mean He is God?

Kermit Zarley

Kermit Zarley

Author Kermit Zarley of Arizona takes up the question, “Does Calling Jesus Immanuel Mean He is God?”  Kermit shows us from the Scriptures that the birth of Jesus signifies to the people that “God is with them” but that does not mean that Jesus himself “is” God.

Christology: Master and Messiah

Joe Martin and  Dan Gill

Dr. Joe Martin of Atlanta Bible College and J. Dan Gill, Chief Editor of 21st Century Reformation discuss the Christology of Jesus as found in the first three chapters of the Book of Revelation. This is an enjoyable and interesting discussion that takes up the words of “Jesus about Jesus.”  Joe Martin says “If we can’t believe what Jesus says about himself, then who can we believe?!” (Ref. Rev. 1-3; Heb. 13:5; Matt. 28:20; Mat. 16:18; Rom. 5:12-19; Heb. 10:10-12.)

The Torah of Messiah

J. Dan Gill

In “The Torah of Messiah,” J. Dan Gill, Chief Editor of 21st Century Reformation, tells his audience that Moses was a forerunner of Messiah and the Law that Moses brought was temporary to lead the people to the Law of Messiah. J. Dan tells us that the Law of Moses was not eternal – but the Law of Messiah will last forever. J. Dan goes on to contrast Moses with Messiah and the Law of Moses with the greater Law of Messiah.
