The Hemphills
Over the past 40 years, the name "Hemphill" has become established as one of the most recognized names in the world of gospel music. A powerful ministry of classic gospel songs bear the name "Hemphill" and their ministry is continuing and new classics are being written. All a tribute to the faithfulness of God and a man and wife's devotion to their Savior and tenacious desire to serve Him at all costs and in the face of dire circumstances. Joel & LaBreeska Hemphill and their ministry, having been tried by fire and found worthy, is as vibrant now as it ever has been.
The Hemphill’s have had many television appearances including, The Grand Ole Opry, Crook and Chase, The 700 Club, TBN and Gospel Country. They appeared regularly on the Gaither Homecoming videos and were invited guest at the White House for a Gospel singing when President Jimmy Carter was in office.
The Hemphills have recorded some 27 albums and had numerous No. 1 and Top 10 songs. Joel has received three BMI Awards of Excellence. Joel Hemphill was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame (SMGA) on October 11, 2007. Together, the Hemphill family has received 8 dove awards.
LaBreeska Rogers Hemphill has spent her life ministering through gospel music. In the early 1950s, she travel as a member of The Happy Goodman Family and later for twenty-five years with her immediate family, The Hemphills.
Joel Hemphilll and his wife LaBreeska, have traveled extensively singing and preaching the word of God. They have gained the respect and appreciation of pastors and churches around the world. Ministering to the benefit of Christians of many backgrounds, their sincerity and love are well known.
