March Update
David Krogh reports that he has received communication from Pastor Lesley Bertrand in Haiti. Pastor Lesly indicates that he and his family as well as the children at the orphanage are all well. He also indicates, however, that they have suffered great loss in terms of their church building, the school there and the orphanage. They are presently gathering for worship under a tree that is in front of the church building. Assistance is getting through. Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti and do remember Pastor Lesly and those who are with him. Again, donations can be made to "Lord's Harvest International." Assistance is greatly needed and appreciated. - J. Dan, Editor
Report on Believers in Haiti
by David Krogh
The word most often used to describe the recent earthquakes in Haiti is "devastating." The loss of life is unimaginable. Homes, businesses and infrastructure have been destroyed on a massive scale. Aid from nations around the world is making its way to the country. However, hardship and suffering continues and recovery will take years.
In the midst of this tragedy there are also wonderful stories of hope, faith and triumph. It is with that in mind that we are happy to report that we have received word from Pastor Lesly Bertrand in Port-au-Prince that the orphanage there is in good condition and that he, his family, and his congregation are safe. We are all rejoicing and thanking God for that news. Do, however, continue to pray for these wonderful believers.
For those who are not familiar with the work in Haiti, it is a story of people loving God and pursuing his word. After studying the scriptures, Pastor Bertrand came to embrace the message of the one God and God's future kingdom on earth over 15 years ago. He shared these truths with others in his group of pastors. These pastors also studied and came to understand the same truths. In 1996 they were asked to leave their denomination and they formed their own fellowship of more than 20 churches. These are courageous men and women of faith who have put a high value on the word of God.

In 1999 Pastor Lesly attended the Theological Conference at Atlanta Bible College. At the conference he met several of our pastors and invited them to come to Haiti and teach at some of his conferences. In 2000, Pastor Lesly invited LHI (Lord's Harvest International) Chairperson J
udy Myers to come to Haiti to meet him and see his work. In February of 2001, three LHI Board members went to Haiti to meet with Pastor Lesly. Later Pastor Lesly expressed a desire for us to bring a team and come over to help them with some teaching and building needs. In mid-May of 2002, the first team went to Haiti. In 2003, David Krogh led a team of 6 to do some preaching and also to help build benches for one of the churches.
A new orphanage on the out-skirts of Port-au-Prince at St. Croix de Bouquet was built with the assistance of the Minnesota State Missionary Society. Because of turmoil in the government and throughout the country, teams have not been sent in recent times.
